We are happy to share some exciting progress with the whole mela event.

Just a reminder that the event is open to all members of our large Kuli family: friends, relatives and devotees and there is something for people of all ages.

So many ideas and projects are starting to come together.

Most importantly we have confirmed a very affordable discounted hotel rate we will elaborate below.

Importantly, the lowest priced pre-registration discount is only going to be active until the 15th of June. Subsequently there will be successive increases until the event day. See below.
Over 150 delegates have already registered and we are anticipating between 600-800 delegates on the day, and maybe even more!

o Our Kuli community and Jagannath lovers of all kinds will lead the Chariot Parade down the Boardwalk of colorful and eclectic Santa Monica and Venice Beach and so the Mela event will include a build up to the “Entourage of Lord Jagannath” which will drum and dance in full color and costumes fit to escort the Lord of the Universe!
o From Thursday, July 30 to Sunday, August 1, visit the Costume Art Lounge at the New Dwarka temple to create or enhance your costumes! Prizes will be awarded for the most creative and innovative costumes in various categories. Please see workshop schedule for details.
o Join the Facebook Group, “The Entourage of Lord Jagannath” to share your inspirations, project ideas, costume packing ideas, etc.

o The purpose of this art show is to explore the artistic talent of our very own Kuli artists.
o There is no set medium; we are looking for any artistic art form that best expresses your feelings and creativity. Each artist should supply a small background of themselves and their artwork.
o Each artist interested must submit at least one photograph of their artwork by mail or email so that we can select a variety of art to display. If you are interested in presenting at this great, event we will need all entries within the next 30 days.
o Please include the dimensions, how many you would like to submit and the medium.
o Feel free to bring framed presentable copies, if you wish to keep your originals. Art can also be sold if you like, so name your price. We are also considering having a raffle, and we are still working-out the details on this. Thank you.

o Krishna kidnaps Rukmini is back! First performed in May 2008 by a talented cast of Gurukulis before an audience of 600, this theatrical extravaganza is returning this summer for one night only! Please join us on Saturday August 1st @ 8:30pm in front of the Temple for this magical performance that promises to evoke the excitement, intrigue and bittersweet heartache of India's quintessential love story. Admission if free.
